Anzac Day Delivers Another Lay Day For Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic
DEE WHY, Sydney / Australia (Sunday 25th April, 2010): Contest organisers at event no.4 of the ASP Women’s World Tour, the Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic have called another lay day, with virtually flat conditions on offer at the main event site of Dee Why in Sydney today.
But there’s a silver lining, with seven-time ASP Women’s World Champion and event director Layne Beachley saying they’re expecting a fresh pulse of southerly swell for the last day of the event’s waiting period.
“An increase of swell overnight is expected to bring improved conditions for tomorrow’s final day,” she said. “Ideally, we’re anticipating an early start on Monday, with finals to completed by around 2.30pm.”
When competition resumes, world no.8 Silvana Lima (BRA), 25, will square off against world no.14 Amee Donohoe (AUS), 29, in the opening heat of Round 3.
Three-time ASP Women's World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 22, will feature in the round's fourth heat. There she'll take on event wildcard winner Laura Enever (AUS), 18.
Organiser will reconvene at 6.15am tomorrow morning for a possible 7am start.
The Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic will run from April 21 through 26, 2010 and will be webcast LIVE via www.beachleyclassic.com
